How To Uninstall Vista on Dual Boot Machine

I formatted the drive containing Windows Vista but the problem is that whenever the computer restarted it showed the dual-boot option for Vista and for Windows XP even though I had deleted Windows Vista. After a little research I came over a solution that helps you fix the dual boot issue for a clean Vista uninstall.

The reason for this problem is that Vista no longer uses boot.ini to store boot information like for Windows XP and previous OS versions. There are two very easy solutions to fix the dual boot issue. You can use any one of them to fix your problem. However I must clarify that Solution 2 has been personally tested by me and works 100%.

Before preceding with any of these solutions remember to Format the drive where Windows Vista has been installed previously in order to make this process clean and fully working.

Solution 1: Use VistaBoot Pro

VistaBoot Pro is a very easy to use and helpful utility designed to make changes to the Windows Vista Boot menu such as changing the name of the Operating Systems shown in the boot menu and make advanced "functional" changes like adding an Operating System to the boot menu and repairing the Windows Vista boot configuration data.

Just Download and Install this software while in Windows XP and delete the Windows Vista entry from the boot menu to solve your issue.

Solution 2: Use Recovery Console

This is the second and the most reliable and fast solution for this issue provided that you have a WindowsXP Home or Professional CD or DVD.

Just change you BIOS settings to boot from CD\DVD-ROM drive and boot from your Windows XP CD. Now, you would see screen as below, Choose the "Recovery Console" option by presing 'R' key. Now here is what you have to do.

1. Select the drive number where Windows XP is inatlled ("1″ in most cases)
2. Enter your administrator password (if asked)
3. Now type FIXMBR and press Y to confirm your action
4. Now Type FIXBOOT and press Y to confirm again

Some of these tools take full website screenshots while others just take partial but all of them can come very handy at times.

Method # 1: Use The Common Print Screen Method

This is one of the most commonly used methods. In this method you just press "Print Screen" on your keyboard and the computer saves the screenshot to the memory. You can simply retrieve and paste this image by opening an image editor and pressing Ctrl-V combination. You can then save the screenshot for use on your blog or on a website.

Remember to go Fullscreen (F11) before pressing "Print Screen" in order to get good quality and full length screenshot.

Method # 2: Use Different Firefox Extensions

Page Saver is a very sexy firefox extension that lets you capture images of web pages. Pagebull is a visual search engine that displays results in form of image thumbnails. To be honest I don't think there is any such use of other search engines as long as Google is in the spotlight but we can do a lot more using Pagebull than just search.

Type in the url of the web page of which you want to capture an image. Pagebull will generate a visual screenshot of that web page on the fly. Just hover over the "magnifying glass" icon near the bottom left of the image thumbnail and you will get a large web page screenshot of the url you requested. This is one of the best methods of taking a screenshot that I have discovered myself.

Method # 4: Use The WebShot Software

WebShot is a free and amazing utility allows you to take screenshots of web pages and save them as full sized images or thumbnails. Screenshots images can be output in the JPG, GIF, PNG, or BMP formats. The very best thing about this application is that it allows to take screenshots of multiple web pages at once.

Method # 5: Use The Double Conversion Method

This is a rather difficult and time-consuming method targeted for those users who can not use the alternative methods mentioned above. The theory behind this method is to save the web page and convert it to PDF and then use the PDF and convert it to Image. This method is one of my own inventions too (Ok! Ok! In February 2007 Sony Ericsson announced several new mobiles as an addition to their product line.
